Then again, I have been a long time customer and I remember hearing that Netflix will sometimes purposely slow the queues of long-time or infrequent users.”
i have netflix too… and it happens to me too. But, what may help is put a DVD on before you know its going out on DVD but isnt yet and add it to your qeue and it may be faster. NO promises but it may work.
I’ve been a Netflix user for many years as well and I was just able to snag Iron Man on the day it released.
Here is what I do.
1. Always move unreleased movies to the top of your queue. That way they are immediately at the top of your list the moment they are released. Watch the date that a particular movie will be released. In the case of Iron Man, the movie released on 9/30.
2.Determine from past experience what day Netflix receives your movies when you return them. For me, when I send a movie back today, Netflix receives it and sends a movie tomorrow.
3. Keep a movie at home close to when the new movie releases. For me, I kept a past movie and only returned it on 9/29. Knowing the next day will be when they send a movie out, and that is the same day Iron Man is available, I had pretty good odds of getting it.
I do this a lot for movies that normally show Long Wait. In my experience, if you can’t get it on the day it releases, you are going to wait a long time. Try and time a return for the release date and see how many of those new releases you’re able to get.
